Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure to remove excess skin and muscle from both the upper and lower eyelids along with underlying fatty tissue. Blepharoplasty can improve drooping skin and bagginess.
It can help improve vision in older patients who have hooding of their upper eyelids. Although it can add an upper eyelid crease to the Asian eyelid. It will not erase evidence of one’s racial or ethnic heritage. Blepharoplasty will not remove crow’s feet or other wrinkles, eliminate dark circles under the eyes, or lift sagging eyebrows.

Customized for every patient
Blepharoplasty surgery is customized for every patient, depending on his or her particular needs.
It can be performed alone involving upper, lower or both eyelid regions, or in conjunction with other surgical procedures of the eye, face, brow, or nose.
Eyelid surgery cannot stop the process of aging. It can, however, diminish the look of loose skin and bagginess in the eyelid region.
— Dr. José Ignacio García Ceballos

Aging can cause the upper eyelids to fall on the eye. This can give a tired look as well as being annoying when looking and suffering from a feeling of heaviness. It is necessary to assess to what degree the drop of the eyebrows provides a greater drop of the upper eyelid.
Treatment in mild cases can be done by applying botulinum toxin in combination with the laser. In cases where the skin is more redundant, its treatment is surgical and is called blepharoplasty.
Before deciding to have surgery, think carefully about your expectations and openly discuss them with your plastic surgeon.
Intervention
The intervention is performed under local anesthesia on an outpatient basis. The procedure takes approximately 30 minutes for each eye.
It is common for purple eyes to appear for a week to a greater or lesser degree. The scar heals slowly and over time may become very inconspicuous.
Postoperative care
The stitches go inside the skin and are removed in a week.
During this first week, it is recommended to use sunglasses to go outside.
Generally, there are two problems that can be solved by a lower blepharoplasty.
Eye bags without excess skin & eye bags with excess skin …
“It gives me the impression of looking tired” is the most common phrase of patients who require correction of the lower eyelids.
The operation
This procedure is called lower blepharoplasty and can be performed without any visible scar (transconjunctival) and in some cases via an incision under the eyelashes of the lower eyelid. If the amount of existing skin is adequate and there is only a bulge or eye bags Transconjunctival blepharoplasty may be indicated, or without a visible scar on the outside.
The intervention is performed under general anesthesia to prevent undesirable movements of the patient’s head during the intervention and to provide more comfort.
In case there was an excess of skin on the lower eyelid as well as a bulge or bags, the incision should be made on the outside just below the eyelashes
Sometimes lowering the cheek (middle third of the face) can cause this effect, in which case the best method is to raise the cheek. The photographs we need are specific to this procedure.
These procedures can be performed simultaneously with other interventions.

Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is indicated in those patients who, either for congenital reasons or due to the passage of age, have excess skin on the upper eyelid (upper blepharoplasty), or excess fat or bulging of the lower eyelid, bags of the eyes, (lower blepharoplasty).
The stitches of a blepharoplasty are removed between 7 and 10 days after the intervention.
The price of an upper blepharoplasty can range between €1,500 and €3,000 and the price of a lower blepharoplasty usually ranges between €3,000 and €6,000.
Eyelid surgery is called blepharoplasty, and can be upper eyelids or upper blepharoplasty and lower eyelids or lower blepharoplasty.
In upper blepharoplasty, the most frequent complication is bleeding. This complication of surgery is solved by closing the bleeding vessel. Less frequent are the excesses of skin resection.
In the lower eyelid, complications include bleeding and compression of the optic nerve if this bleeding is not stopped in time. For this reason, a close follow-up of the patient in the postoperative period and the performance of the procedure by expert hands are necessary.
Another complication that can occur is ectropion due to excess resection and lack of lower eyelid support.
The doctor with specialized training to perform upper and lower blepharoplasty is the plastic surgeon.
